(As an advanced note, the other residents in Sandra's program are Erik(1st yr), Juliana(2nd yr) and Jen(2nd yr))

Christmas has always been a time of 'lots of family gatherings' for us, but this year it was quite different. Being away from all our family, we ended up having a pretty relaxed and low key holiday.

Without any family gatherings to attend, and presents getting shipped to us, the pile of presents under the tree for the kids had grown larger than we expected. So we decided to open them over the course of 3 days as opposed to an all in one shot (otherwise it would have been the equivalent of 3-4 family gatherings worth of presents...a little overwhelming for the kids). On the 24th, the kids got to open a gift of two each, and then we pretty much just hung out and played for the day. In the evening we went to a Candle Light service at the church we attend, the North Peace MB church. Church is something that deserves it's own post, but I will say that the service was nice.

On the 25th we had a nice brunch at home, and then went to our friends Erik and Rene's house for Christmas dinner. Rene and Erik just had a baby on Dec 18th, so Rene's parents were visiting from Niverville. Rene hadn't been feeling well following the delivery, and her dad had a broken ankle, so her mom did all the cooking for us. On the 26th, we went to Juliana and Marlo
